ADDITIONAL SERVICES and SPECIALTIES
In addition to orthopedics, we thrive and specialize in conditions that are not as often considered for PT. If you have been stuck or are interested in one of these categories, reach out to us.
Pregnancy and Postpartum
Every pregnancy is different. The fourth trimester is as important as the first three. Trunk and pelvic floor stability need to include a balance of breath work and functional movements. Recovery should also include retraining of body mechanics, visceral function assessment (those organs get very displaced by the end of pregnancy!), and be realistic for your transition into the next stage of motherhood.
Pre-Op and Post-Op
Pre-op therapy can make a huge difference in your post-op outcomes. From joint replacement to arthroscopic debridement, ACL to rotator cuff, the better mobility and strength you have going into surgery, the faster and easier your recovery can be. Post-op therapy in integral to recover quickly, eliminate compensations, decrease pain, and return to life and sport.
Chronic Conditions
When something persists, it is often because the source of the issue is missed. This can be difficult to trace back with complex histories and multiple diagnoses, but that's where our training and assessment skills guide us to dive deeper and find the missing pieces. This can be orthopedic, neurological, visceral, or a combination.
Athletic Efficiency and Prehab
Whether you have a history of overuse injuries or simply want to perform better, we can look at your alignment, body mechanics, activation patterns, and potential areas of improvement, maximizing your efficiency. This translates to faster runs, better lifts, and less stress on the body.
Vagus Nerve Regulation
The vagus nerve is one of our cranial nerves and helps us transition from "flight or flight" to "rest and digest". It can be difficult for it to regulate properly after injury or periods of prolonged or poorly managed stress. This can lead to anxiety, GI distress, hormone imbalance, and chronic illness. Mobilization along the nerve path paired with specific exercises can help restore proper function and help you maintain balance before it gets out of control. Early studies are also showing results with various symptoms of long- COVID.
Visceral Manipulation
Organ mobility and motility can be treated similarly to muscles and joints, but is often a much more subtle process. This is beneficial for those with histories of abdominal surgeries, scar tissue, GI conditions (especially with long periods of inflammatory response, food intolerances, constipation, etc), and severe whiplash. Visceral manipulation is also an intervention that provides change in many chronic conditions that have not previously found relief, even if they present as orthopedic issues.
